On Mondays if the weather permits us we like to go out to the bike track and ride around. We bring out chalk and other things the Almond kiddos are interested in bringing to play with us outside!

Today was a great sunny day for us to soak up some sun!!

Self portraits

5/2/24

Last week the Almond Kiddos drew their self portraits and wrote out their names.

We did this on a big black paper with a white crayon and mirrors to see ourselves!!

Creating self-portraits is a wonderful way for young learners to work on fine motor, observational and focusing skills. It also helps them to explore their sense of self and build their self-identity. Self-portrait activities also encourage children to learn more about themselves, their classmates and start foster a sense of belonging within the classroom.

They all have come a long way since the beginning of the school year.

We are SO proud of how they all turned out!

Gardening in the Outdoor Classroom

 4/16/24

Today in the outdoor classroom the Almond class planted some fruits, veggies and flowers in our classes garden box!

After we planted

We first worked on weeding out all the preexisting plants from our gardens last year! My friends were great at digging up all the weeds!!

Before weeding

We then separated our garden out to see where we should plant each our our fruits, veggies and flowers!

My friends were great helpers, the that wanted to help sprinkled the fruits in veggies in the garden!

We planted cucumbers, watermelon, green peppers, tomatoes, basil, parsley, some pretty wild flowers and sunflowers

We can’t wait to see them grow soon and are happy the rain is going to water them for us tonight and tomorrow!

The elementary school every year hatches baby chickens.

Today we got to go see them after lunch!

The eggs are in incubators in the cafeteria and we read some books about eggs and chickens there and got to see them getting ready to hatch in their warm safe spot!

Upstairs we got to see 2 already hatched baby chicks! All Who wanted got to pet them!

It was super exciting for my friends to see and learn about this afternoon!
