Self Portraits

8/23
Today the Almond class did self portraits. We set up the invitation for these drawings, by placing a mirror on the table for them to use as reference points and they used black sharpie on white paper to create their portraits. As they sat down to do their drawings, I would ask them “who do you see?” And they would all respond their names and draw themselves!

Creating self-portraits is a wonderful way for young learners to work on fine motor, observational and focusing skills. It also helps them to explore their sense of self and build their self-identity. Self-portrait activities also encourage children to learn more about themselves, their classmates and start foster a sense of belonging within the classroom.

Yesterday the Almond kiddos did drawings of what their imaginations look like!
They are being displayed inside the classroom for all my friends to see!
