Almond Loves Colors

 8/30-8/31

We’ve all been getting to know one another and things we like, one of them being what our favorite colors are!

Yesterday we went around the room and asked everyone what their favorite color is! My Almond friends really enjoyed this discussion and we decided to make an activity out of it.

Today each Almond friend got to pick their favorite color and use markers, crayons, pastels, dotters or colored pencils to make a picture.

We made a chart to display our classes favorite colors so everyone could see. We also hung up our individual favorite color pictures around the classroom doors!

Almonds Alphabet

 8/29

The Almond class is obsessed with singing songs, we sing many songs throughout our day at school, one them is the ABCs! Today we decided to write out our ABCs using loose parts on different textiles. Ms. Lauren would sketch out each letter in glue then pass it to one of her almond friends that wanted to help, they then would use loose parts, buttons, little paper squares, beads, gems, wooden and CD pieces to outline the letters.

The Almond kiddos did a great job outlining the letters and sining as we did this project. As Ms. Lauren passed out the textiles we would discuss things that started with the letters they were working on, like M is for monkey…!

These letter textiles are being displayed right above our provocation table when you walk in!

Art Studio Fun🎨

Everyday the Almond children get to go to a communal space and do various activities there, yesterday (Thursday) we all went to the Art Studio.

On each table I set up an activity for the Almond friends to do. We had a table for chalk drawing on a black paper, glue sticks with little papers to glue onto a big paper, a bucket of streamers to cut with scissors, a table with stamps and ink, and a big paper for coloring with pastels and stickers! All these activities help my friends with their fine motor and dexterity skills.

On the big green carpet in the Art studio I put out 2 buckets of toys as well for my friends to play with as they finished up their activities.

Yesterday we also celebrated Caleb and Noah’s 3rd birthday!!
They both brought in a toy to show their friends!!
We all sang them happy birthday throughout the day🎂🎂

Self Portraits

8/23
Today the Almond class did self portraits. We set up the invitation for these drawings, by placing a mirror on the table for them to use as reference points and they used black sharpie on white paper to create their portraits. As they sat down to do their drawings, I would ask them “who do you see?” And they would all respond their names and draw themselves!

Creating self-portraits is a wonderful way for young learners to work on fine motor, observational and focusing skills. It also helps them to explore their sense of self and build their self-identity. Self-portrait activities also encourage children to learn more about themselves, their classmates and start foster a sense of belonging within the classroom.

Yesterday the Almond kiddos did drawings of what their imaginations look like!
They are being displayed inside the classroom for all my friends to see!
